Welcome to the Autumn edition of the Eveleigh & Read newsletter. To those new clients, for whom this will be their first edition, we now create an issue every quarter; we hope you find it both useful and interesting. Its aim is to keep you up to date with what we’re up to and to inform you of new cloths, styles etc as we receive them. We know that the majority of our clients find this useful and some even look forward to receiving them - and to those clients we apologise as it’s been some time since the last one. If there’s anything in the newsletter you would like further information about then please feel free to give us a call or send an email.

| We’re having a bit of a change....... |
| |
As most of you will know we moved our offices to Hammersmith last year. This has worked out very well in the main and still gives us easy access to the City – in fact some of you have visited us in our new ‘home’. However, we have also realised that we need to be a bit more efficient and for that reason we are having a bit of a re-shuffle. From September Paul will be our main tailor, visiting all our clients for commissions and fittings, whilst Rob will assume a supporting role in the office - developing new clients, marketing and all the ‘fun’ finance and administrative issues of running a business. In addition, from August, we will be joined by Helen Edwyn-Jones who will be running Paul’s diary and booking appointments so there’s a very good chance that she will be speaking to you in the future.
The past twelve months have been very successful, flying in the face of a recession that has seen a number of our competitors disappear from the market place. We’ve learnt that we need to work smarter to ensure we continue to deliver high levels of service. So whilst we appreciate that some of you might be disappointed not to see Rob’s smiling face any more, we hope that you’ll appreciate the reasons why.

We contacted all our clients earlier in the year regarding our referral incentive scheme, which resulted in five new clients, so thank you very much. For those of you who have recently joined us, the scheme offers a £100 off any of our products when you introduce a new client to Eveleigh & Read that spends over £1,000. There is no limit to the amount of vouchers you can earn, or redeem in one go, so have a think and let us know who else you think might appreciate what we do. |

| Harris Tweed – it’s the real thing!! |
| |
About a year ago we received a new sample book from one of our cloth merchants of real Harris Tweed (that’s tweed woven on the island and comes with the iconic Harris Tweed label that we can sew into your jacket, or not, at your behest). It probably sat on our shelves in the office for a good nine months before our first request but of late the floodgates have opened. So if you fancy the real thing, and it can be styled just the way you want it right the way down to the leather buttons – although some of you have elected for horn, then please let us know. We can team it up with cords, moleskins or cotton chinos and Tattersall check shirts. |

As you read this we will have received our new cloth lines for the new Autumn/Winter 2009 season. Due to last year’s high demand this will include an expansion of our Flannel range across colours and patterns, as well as a big increase in our shirtings. Now of course is the time to start thinking about your winter wardrobe so when you have a moment, don’t forget to have a quick look through what you already have to see what needs to be replaced.

| Mr Read's Interesting Facts |
| |
When the nutrients in spinach were first analysed the iron content was mistakenly reported as ten times the actual value, a value that was rechecked during the 1930s, where it was revealed that the original German scientist, Dr. E. von Wolf, had misplaced a decimal point in his calculation.
In truth, spinach actually has about the same iron content as a lot of other vegetables, and even less than others. Cooked broccoli and cauliflower for example, have almost double the iron content of spinach. Just don’t tell Popeye!! |
